P.E. Term 3, 2017

Rugby League - Billy Slater Shield

The Billy Slater Shield was held at Dallas Brooks Primary School during Term 3. The day was run by the Melbourne Storm development team and included a 1 hour clinic to work on tackling technique and other important skills. Competitions included: Grade 6 Boys, Grade 5 Boys, Grade 5/6 Girls and Grade 5/6 Girls Tag. Westmeadows were represented in all competitions with over 50 children participating on the day.

Grade 5 Boys – Played well across all games and didn’t lose a game for the day. However, 2 draws meant that they finished in 3rd place.

Grade 6 Boys – Came up against some stiff opposition but were competitive in all of their games. The boys played hard and represented the school with great determination.

Girls Tackle – Won all of their pool matches and played in the final against SOGS. After going behind early the girls fought back and won a tough match to progress to the State Finals in November.

Girls Tag – Played a three game series against Bethal Primary to decide the winner for the day. The first two games finished in a draw which meant the third game was the decider. In a close match Westmeadows came out on top and will also progress to play in the State Finals.

Well done to all students who participated on the day, you represented Westmeadows extremely well and played as hard as you could in every game. Good luck to the girls who will be playing in the State Finals later this year.
